MedLit is an independent app that retrieves research information through NCBI's public Entrez Programming Utilities (E-utilities). NCBI is part of the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). MedLit transforms the returned records into its own search, article, and available full-text views.
NCBI services used
The App uses PubMed search, summary, and article retrieval; related-article links; and spelling suggestions. Where available, it retrieves PubMed Central (PMC) article XML. Its API requests identify MedLit with a tool identifier and developer contact email. Access is subject to NCBI's E-utilities usage guidelines and policies.
Content rights
Permission to use an API is separate from permission to reuse the articles it returns. PubMed abstracts, article text, images, tables, and other material may be protected by author or publisher copyright. PMC availability or free access does not automatically allow unrestricted redistribution. Check each work's own copyright and license information before reusing it. PMC explains these distinctions in its copyright notice.
MedLit provides citations and links to original records to help you check sources and preserve attribution. When reusing U.S. Government material, acknowledge the source as requested by NLM.
